BLACKADDER actor Tony Robinson left the owners of an eco-friendly sawmill in stitches when he visited the venture to celebrate its work.

The TV presenter, best known for playing Baldrick in the comedy, spent a day at Duncombe Sawmill, in Helmsley, to film for an episode of Channel 5 show Coast to Coast.

The mill uses traditional techniques and the show will follow the journey of locally-grown timber as it is worked with at the mill through to it being used in the North York Moors National Park.

Emma Woods, owner of the Duncombe Sawmill, said Mr Robinson’s visit had been thoroughly enjoyable.

She said: “It was a great day, and we all had lots of fun.

“Tony was incredibly funny, and very kind to pose for photos with us all.

“The TV crew were with us for about six hours, and Tony was keen to learn as much as possible in that time and be very hands on, so it was wonderful to be able to share the knowledge which has been passed down through the Sawmill’s history for more than 100 years.”

  • The episode featuring Duncombe Sawmill is scheduled to air on April 14, at 8pm.
