THE signed belongings of some of the gods of rock and roll are to be put up for sale at a forthcoming auction.

The auction, by Ryedale Auctioneers in Kirkbymoorside, will be a live online webcast auction at 11am on February 17.

Angus Ashworth, who runs the auctioneers, said it would be one of their most exciting auctions.

"It's a small sale but an interesting one, so it should be good," he said.

"There's a lot of John Lennon stuff, including a handwritten note and a signed copy of the Double Fantasy album by him and Yoko."

Mr Ashworth added that there are also items from the Beatles, Captain Beefheart, Andy Warhol, the Travelling Willburys and a "very impressive" life-size lithograph of Keith Richards.

There is also a jacket belonging to Lennon and a jacket belonging to Jimi Hendrix.

Items are available to view at Ryedale Auctioneers' Scarborough office in Victoria Road on February 14, from 10am to 4pm, and then at their main saleroom in Kirkbymoorside on February 16, from 10am to 7pm, and just before the auction on February 17, from 9am to 11am.
