JEWELLERY has been stolen in a spate of burglaries in Ryedale – much of it unique and with sentimental value to its owners.

On September 16 a house in Hovingham was burgled and items of jewellery stolen including a sapphire engagement ring containing a 22ct diamond surrounded by six oval sapphire stones and six diamond stones.

Now North Yorkshire Police are appealing to anyone with information who could help their investigation, or who has knowledge of the stolen property and its whereabouts.

They particularly want to appeal to retailers who may have either purchased the items in good faith or who have been offered the items for sale.

Other items stolen from the home include:

• Two strings of pearl necklaces

• A gold chain necklace and a gold bracelet containing small coloured stones in alternate links

• Gold knot earrings and a pair of gold triangular shaped “gypsy” earrings.

• Gold and pearl earrings

• An emerald and gold necklace

• Victorian cameo brooch

• Gold and pearl necklace

More jewellery was stolen when a house was burgled in Malton on Saturday, October 1.

Items taken included;

• A ladies pendant watch on a gold chain. The pendant was pink coloured with flowers

• A gents’ pocket watch with Arabic numbers and engraved on the rear with initials and a date

• Blue sapphire engagement ring with small sapphire stones and a black diamond.

  • Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Angie Martindale.
