A MOTHER and daughter have raised £2,300 for Yorkshire Cancer Research - after conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Bridget and Grace Clark, from Pickering, decided to take on the challenge as a way of paying tribute to their dad and grandad, Peter Robinson, and family friend Ros Court, who both lost their lives to cancer.

The pair completed the gruelling 24-mile trek, which involves an ascent of 5,200ft, in just 10 hours and 48 minutes – well under their target of 12 hours – and they smashed their £500 fundraising target with the help of the charity’s Pickering Committee.

Grace, 14, a pupil at Lady Lumley’s School, said: “We set off at 6.30am and had climbed our first peak, Ingleborough, before 8am.

“We then walked on to our next peak, Pen-y-ghent, and then we had another eight miles to walk until we started to climb Whernside.”

Bridget, 53, added: “This has been a tough challenge but it has been fantastic to do it together.”
