A NINETEENTH-century stable block which has been converted into a food hub has won a regional property “Oscar.”
Talbot Yard Food Court in Malton won the Tourism and Leisure at the RICS Yorkshire and Humber Awards announced on Friday.
The annual contest, held at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, celebrates inspirational initiatives in the region’s land, property and construction sectors.
Martin Roberts, television presenter and property expert – best known for TV programme, Homes under the Hammer - was the host for this year’s ceremony which attracted close to 350 local property professionals.
Talbot Yard Food Court, once a disused 19th century stabling and carriage housing, is now a food hub thanks to a £1m conversion scheme.
Visitors taste, explore and learn how some of the finest produce in Yorkshire is made, in a range of food and drink units, including an ice-cream parlour, artisan bakery, coffee roastery, brewery and a fresh pasta facility.
RICS judges praised the project team for conserving many of the historical building’s original features and creating a valuable centrepiece of Malton’s culinary revival.
