CALAMITY Jane is riding into Pickering next month.

For Pickering Musical Society will perform the Wild West musical at the Kirk Theatre during the first week in May.

The performance comes hot on the heels of the society’s record-breaking pantomime, Snow Queen, and is the sixth musical Luke Arnold has directed for the society.

He said: “I am really enjoying directing Calamity Jane after the fun of the panto it is nice to tackle a musical once again.

“We have some great performances this year and I am sure you will all enjoy the show.”

Returning to take up the lead role is Rachel Anderson while Marcus Burnside plays Wild Bill Hickok.

Mr Burnside is famed for his performances as the society’s pantomime dame so he’s looking forward to showcasing his skills in a lead role.

As well as society members who take up roles in the chorus, there are two new performers making their debut.

They are A-Level theatre studies students Johnny Bayes and Hannah Woodward of Lady Lumley’s School while Courtney Brown is also involved following her successful performance of Gerda in Snow Queen.

Calamity Jane runs from Monday, May 2 to Saturday, May 7 at 7.30pm with a matinee performance on May 7 at 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the box office, in person, on 01751-478433 or online at www.kirktheatre.co.uk.
