POLICE have confirmed a man from Whitby has died as a result of a crash involving a car and an HGV at a North Yorkshire beauty spot.

The serious collision happened at 2.35pm yesterday (Tuesday, March 1) on Saltersgate Bank on the A169 near the Hole of Horcum and Lockton on the North York Moors.

It involved a black Renault Twingo and a white DAF lorry. Three people were yesterday reported injured in the accident, a man and woman in the car and the male driver of the HGV. 

Now police have confirmed a 33-year-old man from Whitby sadly died in the accident.

The man has not yet been named.

Local diversions were put in place to allow police to investigate the scene and for vehicles to be recovered and for other emergency crews to attend the scene.
