LOCAL people look set to benefit from new affordable homes in a picture-postcard North Yorkshire village.

Four new affordable homes are now on offer to people from, or with close connections to, Thornton-le-Dale, near Pickering, - thanks to a partnership effort by Ryedale District Council and W&W Estates (Thornton Dale) Ltd

"This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a discount for sale home in Thornton-le-Dale parish," said Ryedale’s housing services manager Kim Robertshaw.

"If you are interested and have a local connection to the area, you can attend an open event in the village. At the open event you can register an interest in one of the new affordable homes for sale currently being built at Hurrell Lane."

The open event will be held at the village all on December 8 and people can drop in any time between 2pm and 6.30pm to register and find out more about the homes.

Due for completion in April 2016, the affordable homes will consist of 2 two-bedroom houses priced at £80,000 each and 2 one-bedroom apartments costing £60,000 each.
