MALTON Stables will hold its annual open day on September 13, with an opportunity for visitors to have a look around the new Jack Berry House for injured jockeys.

Arena Racing Company has been named as the main sponsor for the next two years for the event which will see 20 racing yards open from 9am until 1pm, as well as a range of activities throughout the day.

A park and ride system will operate from Malton Market Place to the racing yards with outlying yards providing free parking for visitors.

At Jack Berry house, open from 10am until 2pm, there will be tours and activities including a Jockey Gym Challenge and the opportunity to meet Jack Berry.

Malton Stables Open Day chairman Tim Fitzgerald said: “We look forward to welcoming visitors to Malton and the important part the town plays in the fabric of British Racing.

“I hope we can raise lots of money for four great causes – Jack Berry House, Racing Welfare, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Malton & Norton District Hospital League of Friends.”

To launch this year’s open day, Malton Racing Association and Wildcard Racing Syndicate are offering a prize of a year’s membership of a racing syndicate.

Entry is £10 for adults and free to under 12s. For full details check Facebook, Twitter @maltonopenday and www.maltonstablesopenday.co.uk.
