DISCOVERY: Police were called to woods near Staxton after a man's body was found
A MAN’S body has been discovered in woods near a North Yorkshire village.
A member of the public found the man’s body in Staxton Woods, near Scarborough, at about 12.30pm on Friday (January 16) and called the police.
Although the man is yet to be formally identified, the family of missing Cayton man Alan Wilkinson have been informed.
Mr Wilkinson, 65, of Cayton near Scarborough, was reported missing on Monday, December 8, prompting extensive police searches and public appeals.
A post mortem is due to be carried out to determine the cause of the man’s death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
