A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in Malton, North Yorkshire, today (Friday, November 7)
The man, thought to be an employee of Ryedale District Council, suffered abdominal and arm injuries just before 1pm in the Ryedale market town.
He was anaesthetised at the scene and flown by Great North Air Ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he arrived in a critical but stable state.
The bad weather conditions meant the journey was challenging for the crew but they arrived within 18 minutes.
A spokeswoman for Ryedale District Council confirmed the man was a council worker.
She said: "It is too early to speculate on the cause of the incident and a full investigation will be undertaken.
"The council's immediate thoughts are for the worker's welfare."
