TWO days of automobile heaven are on the way when hundreds of classic cars converge on the region later this month.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is hosting its classic cars and vehicles weekend at four locations along the picturesque line.

Vehicles will be parked up at Pickering, Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont stations on July 12 and 13 – all linked by a “park-and-train-ride” service.

Vehicles confirmed for this year’s event include a rare example of a 1908 steam car, a 1914 Royal Enfield combination stretcher motorbike and a 1927 Standard 14/28, alongside a wide range of vehicles right up to a 1990 Rolls Royce.

“This will be a huge treat for any car enthusiast, and with a train ride through the glorious North York Moors national park as visitors travel between the different venues, it should be a wonderful weekend to remember,” said marketing manager Danielle Ramsey.

“From luxury cars like Daimlers and Bentleys, to Ford Escorts and Capris, this will be a nostalgic ride down memory lane for everyone brought up over the last century – the collection really is that wide.”

Throughout the weekend visitors to Levisham Station will be serenaded with live music with miniature traction engines also on display each day.

And at Pickering station, the Learning Centre will be filled with model railway layout displays, courtesy of the Scarborough and District Railway Modellers.

A Day Rover ticket from Pickering to Goathland and Grosmont for the weekend is £20.50 for adults, £17.50 for seniors and £10.50 for children, with a family ticket available for £45.00.
