A RESTORED mill in North Yorkshire is competing for votes as it bids to win a National Lottery Award live on television later this year

The restoration project at Howsham Mill has been selected from over 750 entries to go into a public vote in the annual search for the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.

The Georgian watermill, which is competing against six other organisations to win the Best Environment category and scoop a £2,000 prize, has been restored thanks to lottery funding.

It is now used as an environmental education centre, with hydro-electricity generated from a waterwheel.

To vote for Howsham Mill, go to lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards or telephone 0844-836-9687. Voting runs until midnight on July 23.
