A POPULAR North Yorkshire landmark will take centre stage in a Sky television show.
The first heat of the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition is taking place at Fountains Abbey in Ripon over the weekend of June 19.
The TV show gives artists the chance to win a £10,000 commission for a famous British institution’s permanent collection, as well as £500 of art materials.
Fountains Abbey will be the first of three heats in the competition, with the next stages taking place at Viking Bay Broadstairs in Kent and a location in Scotland to be confirmed.
The competition is open for entries now.
Danielle Graham, executive producer, at Storyvault Films said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for amateur and professional artists alike to show off their talents and help build their profile and career at the same time.
The closing date for entries is midday on May 11 via skyartsartistoftheyear.tv/landscape
