AN ancient cathedral has received a much-needed revamp in the form of three new windows.
Timber windows of Ripon Cathedral which fell into disrepair have been replaced by Biker Group in Leyburn.
The business manufactured and installed the new timber windows free of charge, and Northallerton Glass donated the glass.
The cathedral relies on fundraising from English Heritage and has benefitted from numerous donations.
Managing director Ben Biker said: “The old, rotten windows were in a state of disrepair and extremely unsightly.
“Ripon Cathedral isn’t just a place of worship, it’s a cultural, educational and social venue, which is the hub of the community, so it was a very worthwhile cause to support.”
Rev John Dobson, Dean of Ripon, added: “This work shows that practical support and gifts in kind are immensely useful and make a big difference to our efforts to serve the people of this city and region.”
