NORTH Yorkshire is the place to be for success in school examinations, according to new research.
When it comes to exam results half of the top ten independent schools in the north of England are in the county according to Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2018.
And in the state secondary school table the figure is the same, with five of the top ten being in North Yorkshire.
The independent school table is led by Queen Ethelburga’s College, just outside York, with St Peter’s School, York, in second place and the Mount School in York coming sixth.
Two more York schools are in ninth and tenth place – Queen Margaret’s and Bootham.
The state secondary table for the north is led by Ripon Grammar School with Skipton Girls' High School coming second and another Skipton school, Ermysted's Grammar, in third.
Fulford School in York is in eighth place while Tadcaster Grammar takes the ninth position.
The full listings will be published in the Sunday Times and online this Sunday, November 26.
