THOUSANDS of festival-goers sampled street food from all corners of the globe at a new family festival.

The StrEat Food and Family Festival took place at Newby Hall, Ripon this weekend.

It featured Radio One DJ Scott Mills, who headlined the three-day event and was supported by boyband Five and Fun Lovin Criminals’ frontman, Huey Morgan, alongside local DJs.

The event was opened by the Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Pauline McHardy.

Visitors enjoyed a huge range of street food, eclectic entertainment and live music in the backdrop of Newby Hall grounds in North Yorkshire.

Other entertainment included films on Europe’s largest outdoor cinema screen, Saurus, the walkabout dinosaur act and street entertainment in the shape of giant kangaroos, high-energy stilt acts, street entertainers and a Vaudevillian circus double act.

The event is the brainchild of Harrogate businesswoman, Cathy McConaghy, who swapped organising bridal shows to pursue her passion for food.
