A PAIR of new arrivals are being welcomed into a landmark cathedral this autumn.
Ripon Cathedral has announced the appointment of a new singing development leader Aoife O’Connell and new organ scholar Alana Brook.
Professional opera singer Ms O’Connell has recently worked with Opera North’s education department and is to lead an outreach project to promote singing and inspire young musicians in Ripon and the surrounding area.
She will work with schools and other agencies to develop initiatives including a children’s community choir.
Meanwhile, Australian organist Alana Brook is to take up the John Sayer Organ Scholarship and is looking forward to expanding her repertoire on the cathedral’s impressive Harrison and Harrison organ – which has four keyboards and boasts pipes dating back to 1695.
