A REMEMBRANCE garden created to raise money for a hospice care charity will be officially unveiled at a popular pub this month.

The Bull Inn in West Tanfield, near Ripon, has dedicated a space in its riverside beer garden to Herriot Hospice Homecare.

Owner Gill Richardson teamed up with award-winning garden and landscape designer Matthew Wilson and Alistair Baldwin, of Colour Your Garden in Baldersby, on the project.

Visitors are invited to hang wooden hearts or ribbons in memory of lost loved ones on a special pergola in the garden, which will be officially unveiled at a tea and Pimm’s event at 3.30pm on Friday, August 18.

Hearts, which can be personalised with messages, will be available priced at £25 and ribbons will be available for any donation.

All money raised will go to the Northallerton-based charity, which cares for patients in their homes across Hambleton and Richmondshire.

The Bull Inn has also joined the 1992 Club, a new initiative set up to mark the 25th anniversary of Herriot Hospice Homecare.

Ms Richardson said: “We have long been supporters of Herriot Hospice Homecare so we are delighted to become part of the 1992 Club and we look forward to raising as much money for the charity as possible.”

Paula Moore, assistant fundraiser at Herriot Hospice Homecare, added: “We would like to thank the people and organisations involved in creating this special remembrance area, which we hope will be a positive and meaningful way for the community to pay tribute to loved ones.”
