A PARTNERSHIP between a foodbank and building society aims to ensure that no schoolgirl in Ripon goes without vital sanitary products.

Reports circulated recently that highlighted the plight of girls from poorer homes who are afraid to ask for money to be spent on sanitary products.

Studies revealed that some girls even missed school when they were on their period as they were too embarrassed to attend without wearing protection.

Now Ripon Foodbank and the city’s branch of the Skipton Building Society have provided boxes of sanitary products to every school in the Ripon area.

A donation station has also been set up at the branch to enable people to donate sanitary products.

Helen Little, of the Foodbank, said: “I am sure you will agree that no girl should go without the sanitary protection they need and for that reason Ripon Foodbank has helped facilitate the collection and distribution of sanitary products for girls at Ripon schools.”
