A COLLECTION of beautiful spring gardens at Wath are opening together for the first time to raise money for the village’s St Mary’s Church.

Nine gardens will open on Saturday, April 29 – starting at 10.30am – and they range from compact cottage gardens to the walled gardens, pond and stream surrounding the 16th century Rectory.

In the morning, bacon rolls, coffee and tea will be available at the village’s Samwaies Hall, followed by lunch time sandwiches and cakes.

The church itself will be open and decorated with flowers and former Chelsea Flower Show medal winners Drointon Nurseries is also holding an open day at the same time.

Pauline Aldous of the organising committee said: “We have got some hidden treasures amongst the gardens at Wath and we felt it was high time that people should be able to see them.”
