MP JULIAN Smith lent his support to an event in Ripon designed to highlight what the cathedral city can offer visitors and residents.
Now in its sixth year, the Ripon Sights and Sounds event sees a host of organisations take part in special events to promote the city.
The free event encourages local people and visitors to have a taste of the attractions, activities and information they may not be fully aware of.
The Workhouse Museum offered guided tours around the worksite and the Courthouse Museum staged a mock trial.
Ripon Cathedral put on attractions such as Morris Dancers and a pop-up cafe as the building was officially opened by the city’s mayor.
Free maps were also handed out to encourage people of all ages to explore the heritage of the landmark building Mr Smith MP said: “I want to pay tribute to the people from the voluntary, public and private sectors who work so hard to bring this event together and it was fantastic to see so many local residents showing their support.”
