THE ‘secrets’ of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal will be revealed in the grand finale of a new channel five series

The National Trust property near Ripon, will feature in the final episode of Secrets of the National Trust on Tuesday March 14 at 9pm.

The series, which started in February, celebrates the estates, historic houses, countryside and coastline in the care of the conservation charity.

In the closing 60 minute episode, host Alan Titchmarsh will uncover the hidden stories of the abbey and find out more about the Trust’s work to restore and take care of the site.

The programme will shine a light on the lives of the monks who once inhabited Fountains Abbey with the help of National Trust archaeologist Mark Newman.

The programme will also explore the recent discovery of the monks’ burial ground and viewers will gain a rare perspective of the site through the use of filming techniques such as drone cameras.

The National Trust looks after 300 historic buildings and over 600,000 acres of land.
