CANONS: Canon Andrew Kitchingman, John Dobson Dean of Ripon Cathedral, the Rt. Rev Nick Baines, Canon Michael Hepper
TWO new Canons have been installed at Ripon Cathedral, and five Area Deans have been licensed at the same ceremony.
Andrew Kitchingman was appointed a Capitular Canon and is the new Treasurer of Ripon Cathedral. Rev Michael Hepper, the vicar of Leyburn and Bellerby, was also appointed. He was originally ordained at the cathedral he served 12 years in France and is the Area Dean of Wensley.
He said: “I was very touched to be made an Honorary Canon of Ripon Cathedral and very humbled to sit in the seat of St. Oswald. However, I see this in reality as a recognition of all the hard work that so many people are doing behind the scenes in the local churches of Wensleydale every day.”
