A PAINTING by a schoolgirl has been selected from hundreds of submissions for a national exhibition at two locations in London.

Emma Beaumont produced the 28cm x 37cm oil painting of the Gare du Nord, in Paris, while she was a student at Ripon Grammar School, before going on to study architecture at Sheffield University.

It will sit alongside 21 other works in The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) and Royal Society of British Artists exhibition later this year.

Head of art at Ripon Grammar School Fiona Henson said: "The art department was delighted to receive notification that Emma's artwork has been selected for the exhibition. It is truly well-deserved and very exciting.”

The painting has been collected from the school and will be on display at the Lloyds building and later at NADFAS House on The Mall.

NADFAS is a leading arts charity which works to advance decorative and fine arts education and appreciation, alongside promoting the conservation of the country's artistic heritage.
