SUCCESSES of the past were used to inspire students for the future an awards ceremony to remember – the last for a headmaster whose impact was hailed immense.
Staff, students, parents and others heard a catalogue of successes stretching back decades at Ripon Grammar School’s annual speech day.
For headmaster Martin Pearman the awards ceremony was bitter-sweet as it was his last before retiring next summer after 13 years.
Guests, including TV journalist Bridget Kendall whose father was once a Ripon pupil, were told by chair of governors Peter Mason: “Outstanding schools don’t just happen; they require committed leadership and Mr Pearman’s impact has been immense.”
Mr Pearman said: “It has been so rewarding for me to have a career creating opportunities for young people to fulfil their potential.”
