RIPON residents are being invited to comment on long-term development proposals for the city’s future.
The Ripon City Plan, to be published next week, details planning policies to regenerate the city, which could see a redevelopment programme of new homes and hundreds of jobs created in the years to 2030, while also protecting amenities and services the community values.
All households in the area will receive a copy of the draft proposals and will be urged feedback before the end of October.
Councillor Peter Horton, chairman of the Ripon City Plan Committee said the plan was the result of two community consultations.
He said: “We believe we have set out a detailed map for the future growth and prosperity of the city that also maintains the things that we value as important to our quality of life and we look forward to the feedback.”
A key element of the blueprint is the redevelopment of the Deverell and Claro barracks sites, with a view to building homes, business workspace, sporting and community facilities. The plan also sets out opportunities to revitalise the city centre and support the cathedral’s development project.
During the six-week consultation drop-in sessions will be held to answer queries. For details, visit riponcityplan.com
