ONE of the region’s great seats of worship is being transformed into a gallery for some of the UK’s finest contemporary painters, sculptors, printmakers and photographers.
The Great North Art Show features 300 artworks by 50 of artists, all displayed in the magnificent setting of Ripon Cathedral.
It showcases the work of new talent alongside more established artists and the scale of the cathedral allows for a collection of work to be shown by each artist rather than simply an individual piece.
Among the artists taking part is Michael Lumb from Heighington, near Darlington. The 48-year-old has showcased his work at several exhibitions in the region in recent years.
