A CATHEDRAL festival has raised more than £30,000 after thousands of visitors arrived to enjoy music, food, beer and flowers.

The Ripon Cathedral Revealed Festival, which took place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, saw around 2,500 visitors flock to take part in activities both inside and out the cathedral.

Inside the cathedral were more than 30 floral displays created and designed by the cathedral flower guild and arrangers from all over the diocese.

The pop up café was a huge success, providing sustenance for visitors throughout the weekend, and musical interludes over the weekend included Northern Voices Choir, The Yorkshire Decibelles, Rock Choir, and the Cathedral Organ Scholar.

Other highlights over the weekend were an opportunity to come and play the cathedral organ, tours of bell tower, learn to play bells, tours of Minster House and the Royal Portraits.

Outside the cathedral was a children’s carousel, fairground organ, and an art installation created by pupils from Ripon Grammar School, as well as the first beer and food festival to be held in the cathedral grounds

The £30,250 raised will go towards new developments at the cathedral.
