A 'TRACTOR Fest' taking place in the grounds of a North Yorkshire stately home will also feature one of the most glamorous makes of sports car.

This year’s event is taking place at Newby Hall near Ripon over the weekend of June 11 and 12.

In addition to vintage tractors, there will also be more than 150 classic cars, commercial vehicles and motorbikes expected to be on show.

There will be a Made in Yorkshire theme, with attractions including a 1955 ex-racing Aston Martin DB2/4 manufactured in Farsley, Leeds.

Leeds-based retired plant machinery specialist and car enthusiast William Beattie is bringing the three cars to Tractor Fest.

He said: “It’s great to be able to celebrate the Aston Martin’s relationship with Yorkshire. Only 761 were made of this particular model and not many people know that the cars weren’t all manufactured in the South and that they have a tractor connection.”

Industrialist David Brown, who also owned the eponymous tractor brand, acquired the iconic Aston Martin marque in 1947. The legendary 'DB' series of Aston Martin cars, including the DB5, famously driven by James Bond and the coupe used in Hitchcock’s The Birds, were named after tractor manufacturer Brown, using his initials.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be the ‘march of the tractors’ from Newby Hall into Ripon on Saturday, June 11 from 5.30pm to 7pm.

There will also be vintage tractor pulling, the chance for children to drive mini tractors around a specially constructed track, interactive exhibits and working machinery, as well as trade and food stands.

Tickets are £10 adults, £9 seniors, £8 children and under 4’s go free. Tickets include entry to the garden and adventure garden. For more information, go to; www.newbyhall.co.uk.
