A WOMAN is in a critical condition after falling from her bike while cycling near Ripon.

The woman, in her 60s, was seriously injured at about 1.40pm on Saturday, March 26, on Kirkby Road near its junction with Triplins Lane at Azerley. She lost control of her bicycle while negotiating a bend and fell into the road.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended and she was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where her condition is currently described as critical.

It is not believed any other vehicle was involved. The road was closed until 7pm to allow police to examine the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw the two cyclists in the area at the time of the collision to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Andy MacLeod. Please quote reference 12160052675.
