A NORTH Yorkshire academy has reported a successful year for cross country athletics.
Outwood Academy in Ripon sent 14 young athletes to Giggleswick School, near Settle, in November, saw Chloe Dalton and Emma Sorby go on to represent Harrogate and Craven at the North Yorkshire County Championships, with Harry Stephenson and Freya Wain narrowly missing out.
Chloe and Emma qualified at the North Yorkshire County Championships to go on to the Schools Inter Counties Cross Country Competition on February 6 at Preston Park, Stockton-on-Tees.
Chloe was placed at seventh overall and second for North Yorkshire; and Emma finished 42nd overall and 12th for North Yorkshire. Chloe will go on to represent North Yorkshire at the England schools national event in Nottingham on Saturday, March 5.
Mr William Pratt, Outwood assistant principal, said “They both ran exceptionally well on the day, a truly fantastic result for Chloe and Emma and we wish Chloe the very best of luck in the England schools competition.”
