PEOPLE who share a birthday with the Queen are getting the opportunity to share in the celebrations when she turns 90.

A celebration is to be held in Ripon Cathedral on June 12 when some 1,000 invited people are expected to attend.

And those born on either April 21, 1926, or June 12, 1926 – the Queen’s actual and official birthdays – can apply for a free ticket for themselves and someone to accompany them.

There will also be a draw for anyone with a 90th birthday occurring during 2016. Apply online for inclusion in the draw. Those successful will be advised and receive an invitation for themselves and someone to accompany them.

To apply for an invitation go to nyll.org.uk/iam90thisyear. Applications may be made on someone’s behalf by a member of the family or by anyone else.

The opportunity applies to all those who live within the area of the Lord Lieutenancy of North Yorkshire – a map of which can be found at nyll.org.uk/about/county-facts
