A FAMILY escaped injury when a car smashed into their home at lunchtime on Wednesday.

One police officer who attended the scene said it was “amazing” that no-one was hurt in the smash at Sharow, near Ripon.

The residents were in the front room of the bungalow when the car struck, destroying a window and causing structural damage as it knocked bricks from the corner of the building.

The Northern Echo:

“Firefighters and ambulance staff also attended the incident.

“The residents were at home at the time but, fortunately, they appear to have escaped injury.”
