A CHARITY which provides support services for people with learning disabilities is to hold a service of celebration to mark its 25th anniversary.

The informal Ripon Community Link service at Ripon Cathedral on Wednesday, July 8, from 2pm to 3pm, will open to everyone and will highlight how the city's community has worked together to enable the charity's users to access, enjoy and contribute to the life in the area.

Since being launched in 1990, the charity has provided its users opportunities to develop skills, therapies, activities, such as a regular walking group, bespoke care plans, volunteering and employment opportunities and social enterprises, including Ripon Walled Garden, alongside services such as advocacy and shopping for housebound people.

The Bishop of Ripon, Rt Revd James Bell James Bell, will attend the service, alongside the Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Pauline McHardy and the Mayor of Boroughbridge, Councillor Kenny Fuller and previous directors of the charity.

The service will feature contributions from Ripon Community Link members.

Those attending are being invited to take their memories and stories for inclusion in a history of the charity being written by two Ripon Grammar School pupils.
