THE ground will be shaking this summer – at what could be the biggest gathering of classic tractors ever held.

Enthusiasts from across the country will be trundling to North Yorkshire for a spectacular attempt at a new world record.

They will be trying to bring together at least 1,000 vintage Ferguson, Massey Ferguson and Massey Harris tractors at Newby Hall near Ripon.

The attempt will be made as part of the site’s two-day Tractor Fest on June 6 and 7 and organiser the Yorkshire Vintage Association is calling on owners of the marques to join them for the occasion.

Sponsored by machinery auctioneers Cheffins, the Tractor Fest attracts thousands of visitors each year. This year’s event will showcase more than 1,500 vintage tractors, engines and touring cars.

The show will also showcase pioneer veteran steel wheel tractors and all other tractor makes will also be well represented through their dedicated clubs.

A new expanded layout means a new larger showcase for the classic car, vintage machines and commercial vehicles attending from around the UK and Europe.

Car and lorry parking arrangements have also been improved to cater for the record number of exhibitors and visitors expected to converge on Newby Hall for the event.

A "March of the Tractors" will once again start at Newby Hall, following a route into Ripon centre and ending in the market square on June 6 from 5pm.

Shops, cafes and restaurants will stay open to mark the occasion and the tractors will be sent on their way back to Newby Hall by the Ripon Hornblower at 7pm.

Tickets are priced at £10 adults, £9 seniors, £8 children, under 4’s go free – includes entry to the garden and adventure garden. For more information visit theyva.com or newbyhall.co.uk
