TWO men are on the run after a teenage shop assistant was pushed over during a robbery.

The pair entered Hillside Nurseries Greengrocers in Ripon at about 3.20pm last Friday, October 31.

One asked the assistant, a 17-year-old girl, for help at a display outside – then the second man took money from the cash register.

When the assistant returned and challenged him moments later, she was pushed over as both men left empty handed.

The two fled from the shop, on Fishergate, and headed towards the Market Place and onto Westgate.

The first man was around 5ft 8in tall and aged in his early to mid-20s. He was wearing a tan jacket with black sleeves and jeans. He was carrying a bag, worn across his body, and was wearing a dark hat.

The second man was in his early to mid twenties and was slightly taller at around 5ft 10in. He was wearing a black leather jacket, jeans and light coloured hat.

PC Lorraine Diggins said: “Thankfully the girl who working in the shop at the time was not seriously injured as a result of this robbery. However, she has naturally been left very shaken by this experience.

“If you can help to identify either of the men involved in this incident I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”

Contact Ripon police on 101, select option two and ask for Lorraine Diggins. Alternatively, information can be emailed to lorraine.diggins@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
