COMMUNITIES across the Ripon area are being invited to join in a consultation day about the future direction of the cathedral

The event on Saturday, October 25 from 10am to 4pm will examine the life of the cathedral and how it can serve the people of the region more effectively.

The Dean of Ripon, the Very Reverend John Dobson, said he was keen to see people from within the church and from the wider community share their views.

He said: “I am genuinely keen to hear people’s comments on those things that the cathedral does already but also about ways in which the cathedral could develop and perhaps do some things that it is not yet doing.

"First and foremost, the cathedral is a church for the city and a seat for the Bishop’s ministry, but it is clear that it fulfils its calling best when it is serving the needs of people in the communities across the region.

"I look forward to seeing as many people as possible dropping into the cathedral to spend a few minutes sharing their views and I will be happy to chat with any who have the time to stop for a tea or coffee."

The consultation day will be followed by a number of further more focused consultations over the following months.
