Dalton and Gayles (north Richmondshire) village hall are to screen a double bill of short films as part of the Tour De Cinema in the Yorkshire Festival.
Velorama (cert U 60 mins)
A new feature-length documentary directed by Daisy Asquith set to a soundtrack from Bill Nelson. Created from collections housed at the BFI National Archive & Yorkshire Film Archive, it shows a Century of the Bicycle on film, from the invention of the modern bike to the gruelling pursuit of Le Tour.
Alan Bennett’s ‘A Day Out’ (cert PG 48 mins)
Alan Bennett's first television play, shows a day in the life of the members of a Halifax cycling club in 1911, following them from the town to the ruins of Fountains Abbey and eavesdropping on their conversations.
These films are presented in partnership with Sheffield Doc/Fest and Cine Yorkshire as part of Tour De Cinema in the Yorkshire Festival, the first ever arts festival to precede the Tour de France, the world’s biggest annual sporting event.
Tour de Cinema was commissioned by Yorkshire Festival 2014 with support from Arts Council England, Yorkshire Water, Welcome to Yorkshire and Yorkshire Local Authorities.
The performance starts at 7:00pm on Friday April 4th. Admission £2.50, accompanied under 16s free.
