Two local history talks are to be held in Dalton and Gayles village hall, following a survey of local residents needs, undertaken during 2012.
The first “The Great Grazing Country of the Children” will be on Friday 18 January 2013 by local historian Marion Moverley. It will include the Yorkshire Schools (remember Dotheboys Hall) in the villages of Gayles, Dalton etc.
The second, on Friday 1 February 2013, will be by members of Barningham Local History Group who will speak on several topics of local interest, including the railway that was to come to Whaston, Gayles, Dalton, Newsham and Barningham.
The talks start at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) on each day. The licensed bar will be open from 7pm to the start of the talk and then afterwards until 9.30pm.
Tickets at £2.50 (includes homemade biscuits and tea or coffee) available from Linda (Tel 01833 621307) or Janet (Tel 01833 621306).
