AN evocation of a Yorkshire Dales garden has won has won top designer Chris Myers another award.
His show garden, Hay Time in the Dales, has won a silver medal at this year’s RHS Chatsworth Flower Show.
His creation is a picture-postcard representation of life in the Dales, with a small converted barn and cottage garden, dry stone walls complete with sheltered nooks and crannies, and a traditional hay meadow full of native wildflowers.
As well as being an experienced garden designer and TV presenter, Chris is also an ambassador for theYorkshire Dales Millennium Trust – a role which had a big influence on his award-winning design.
“The Yorkshire Dales landscape is changing," he said. "Many of the barns once used to shelter sheep are now houses, and the species-rich hay meadows on which those sheep were fed are now grassy fields with no wildflowers.
"I’m really chuffed this garden has proved popular with the RHS judges at Chatsworth. Fingers crossed visitors will be inspired too.”
