A NORTH Yorkshire town is getting in the spirit this summer - with its first ever gin festival.

The Ginilicious festival will take place in Helmsley's town hall on August 4 when visitors will be offered the chance to sample a selection of 50 gins, as well as meeting specialist craft distillers.

The event is being organised by Helmsley Wines, a wine merchant and specialist in gins, whiskies, and brandies.

Co-owner Jayne Potter said: "We have been mulling over the idea of a gin festival for some time, so we're delighted the plan has finally come together.

"There's so many wonderful varieties out there, and what better way to try them out and find your favourites than by having them all under one roof?"

Two sessions will run, from 12.30-4.30pm and from 6-10pm, with tickets costing £15. For more details visit ginilicious.co.uk.
