HUNDREDS of runners are preparing to race in aid of the national charity for the British Army.

The Dishforth Dash 10k road race, at Dishforth Airfield, is organised by 6 Regiment the Royal Logistic Corps, who are based at the barracks.

All proceeds will go to the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), which supports soldiers, veterans and their families.

The commanding officer of 6 Regiment, lieutenant colonel Tim Crossland, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to invite the local community to come and compete alongside members of the Armed Forces.

“It will be a great day and it’s hoped that the event will get bigger each year and become a permanent fixture in the race calendar.”

There will also be a children’s fun run, with a 1km route for those aged six and under, and a 2km race for seven to 15-year-olds.

The races will take place on Sunday, March 25. You can register at www.runbritain.com, https://bookitzone.com, or on the day.
