AN army veteran is helping to deliver an innovative programme to help his ex-colleagues.
Chris Childs has joined Richmondshire’s Healthy Horizons team with Ryan Rutherford, who has been working as a lifestyle officer.
The scheme aims to improve the physical and mental health of ex-forces personnel aged 65 or older for people in the area.
The project is being delivered by 14 partners, including the district council, and led by Community First Yorkshire.
Those involved are offered to visit a pop-up shed which provides therapeutic sessions in arts and crafts including woodwork, creative writing, photography and painting to improve mental health related issues.
The step-by-step initiative offers people the chance to improve physical health and nutrition, and focuses on improving lifestyle choices including physical activity, healthy cooking, healthy eating and overall wellbeing.
