A SCHEME to conserve a town’s 19th-century former school building has appointed a project manager.
Kate Dickson is taking the reins of the Old Grammar School development scheme in Richmond, launched by the Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust.
The project has been awarded a round one pass with funding of £155,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This is supported with £25,000 from the Architectural Heritage Fund to progress plans for a round two application in spring 2019.
Ms Dickson is the director of Buxton-based Creative Heritage Consultants Ltd, offering advice to those who care for historic buildings.
She will aid the design team with plans for the Grade II listed building, which hopes to provide community uses supported by commercial enterprises.
Considerations include a small independent hostel, community offices, a multi-use community hall, function room, second-hand bookshop and café.
