A RENOWNED hotel on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales has been put up for sale for £1.5 million.

Aysgarth Falls Hotel, set in five acres of grounds that sit above the famous Aysgarth Falls, is seeking an asking price of £1.5 million for the freehold interest.

The four-star AA rated hotel dates to the mid-eighteenth century with the pub section older still.

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has been instructed to sell by current owners Steve and Heather Swann.

They bought the property in June 2010 when it was known as Palmer Flatt Hotel.

They created thirteen modern en-suite guest rooms, pub, dining area, conservatory restaurant, and outdoor terrace which overlooks the pond and the rolling hills beyond.

Steve and Heather have dining and hotel sector experience, having owned the Keld Bunkhouse and the Park House Campsite in Swaledale.

Mark Worley, Christie & Co director who is handling the sale, said: “This is an excellent coaching inn/hotel, beautifully situated among stunning fells and pretty valleys, presented to a very high standard.

“As well as this, the business is highly profitable, so the new buyer will not only have a wonderful way of life, they will also make a lot of money.”

Aysgarth Falls became a tourist hotspot after its feature in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner, and the 1992 film Wuthering Heights.

Located at the foot of the hotel, the falls sit amongst an area of woodland which forms part of a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
