TRADERS are hoping to work together to emulate the success of the Great British High Street of the Year.
Richmond traders listened to the story of Johnny Hayes - the man who helped York's Bishopthorpe Road win the national accolade.
As the town has been chosen to host next year’s Tour de Yorkshire, Mr Hayes urged traders to plan for increased tourism.
Mr Hayes, former chairman of the Bishy Road Traders Association, said: “The key to success is to communicate with each other and promote the town instead of solely your own business.”
Mr Hayes and his wife own Frankie and Johnny’s Cookshop on the street.
Marcia McLuckie, Richmond Business and Tourism Association chair, said: “Like Bishy Road we have very successful and popular local businesses looking to better themselves.”
