A mother is planning to shave off her hair after a lifetime of dyeing it every possible colour to raise money for Macmillan cancer support.

Hannah Cobb, 44, from Richmond, is determined to raise awareness and as much money as possible for the cancer support group in memory of her brother in law John Cobb and a close friend.

“The Macmillan nurses were wonderful with my brother in law and my friend, it made such a difference having them there, really marvellous support. So I wondered what I could do to try and make people more aware of what they do while raising money to help support them," said Mrs Cobb.

“I’ve always had different coloured hair and styles, I’ve had it every possible colour and while it is quite short now I thought that’s something that will be noticed. I am a bit apprehensive, as are my family, my 14 year-old daughter thinks I am slightly mad, but they know it is all in a good cause, so they are very supportive,” she added.

Hannah is braving the shave at Altered Images hairdressers in Richmond at 1.30pm on Thursday October 19. She has raised around £350 through sponsorship so far and has set up a Hannah Cobb Brave just giving page to try and encourage more support.
