AN award-winning local artist has launched her autumn collection at a private viewing in the presence of a special guest.

Lucy Pittaway hosted the event in her gallery in Brompton-on-Swale in front of Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Sir Gary Verity, who earlier that day announced next year’s Tour de Yorkshire will be coming to Richmond.

He spoke about their successful partnership over the last two years, as Lucy was the official artist for this year’s bike race.

The ten-piece collection was unveiled in her gallery in Brompton-on-Swale as well as in her new shop in Richmond where prints can be bought.

The collection is inspired by some of the North-East’s most iconic landmarks and landscapes including Roseberry Topping and Penhill.

Lucy’s famous sheep artwork will return, as well as highland cattle paintings in colourful, countryside settings.

Lucy said: “I have enjoyed working on my latest collection inspired by many places I visited in the North as a child and more recently with my own children.

“To sit and draw my happy memories of such stunning places with my pastels has been a wonderful experience.

“I hope the people of the North-East and Yorkshire can see some of their own visits in many of the pieces too.”
