A CHARITY which provides support to veterans and members of the British Armed Forces is gearing up for another year of Remembrance events.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) branch in Richmond will host several events in the run up to the Remembrance Sunday parade – led by the band from the Army School of Ceremonial and featuring more than 100 marching troops and the Civic Party.

On October 27, the RBL will lay poppies around the town and a stall will be selling Remembrance items in Richmond Market Hall from October 28 for a fortnight.

On November 3, a Festival of Remembrance will be held and people are invited to lay a cross in Friary Gardens on November 11 at 11am.

This service will be attended by the chairman of Richmondshire District Council and the mayor of Richmond.
